Felda Investment Corporation Sdn Bhd ("FIC") was incorporated by Federal Land Development Authority (FELDA) on 2 July 2013 under the Companies Act, 1965 as a private company limited by shares under the name of Capital Protocol Sdn Bhd. FIC assumed its present name on 8 November 2013. FIC is wholly owned by FELDA, an entity that was established in 1956 under the Land Development Ordinance for the development of land and relocation initiatives, with the objective of eradicating poverty among settlers through the cultivation of oil palm and rubber. In line with this objective, FIC was established as the new investment arm of FELDA in achieving its aim to maximise readily available assets and upsurge its contribution to settlers and the overall wealth of the nation
FIC is responsible to undertake business activities, which are non-plantation related and at present, it is principally involved in the areas of property development; hospitality; and other strategic investments. The main objective of FIC is to focus on strategic businesses via acquisitions or collaborations that may benefit the company and its stakeholders in the long run.
Over the brief course of its establishment, FIC has entered into several strategic dealings, including the investment in IRIS Corporation Berhad, the take-over of a property development company, Encorp Berhad and the investment in Barakah Offshore Petroleum Berhad, which marked its first involvement in the oil and gas industry.
